What we do:

Professional Coaching Supervision

Engagement with supervision is a critical aspect of professional practice for coaches operating at any level. Supervision in coaching practice has its foundations in clinical and therapeutic disciplines such as counselling and psychotherapy and whilst supervision is not a mandatory practice in the field of coaching it is recognised as best practice for all professional coaches and is increasingly becoming a commissioning requirement. Evidence of engagement with supervision is also now a mandatory requirement for membership of the professional coaching bodies (AC, EMCC, APECS, ICF etc.)

Coach supervision is a catalyst for maintaining the quality of the services provided by coaches both to their individual and organisational clients. Supervision supports coaches to maintain their commitment and motivation to the delivery of high quality professional coaching, provides a confidential space for coaches to explore challenges, frustrations and problems they are experiencing in their coaching practice, creates opportunities for coaches to reflect upon the complex environments they operate within, challenges preconceptions, enables safe and ethical coaching practice and supports the personal resilience and wellbeing of the coach.

Whether you are an existing coach wishing to develop your supervision skills or an individual involved in an organisational coaching or mentoring scheme who is seeking to build supervision capability within your organisation our coach supervision programme has been designed to support your journey. The programme has been developed by qualified and experienced coaches and supervisors and has been designed to give attendees a solid foundation in safe, effective supervisory practice.

Professional Coaching Supervision

Monday 20th November 2023 (3-day course)

The Chapel House Professional Coach Supervision programme has its foundations in research and theory but has been designed to be highly interactive and practice focused ensuring delegates develop safe, effective supervisory skills.

The three initial days of the programme gives learners a detailed awareness of the operational and theoretical roots of coach supervision, explores a range of supervision theories and models, considers good practice and the challenges of contracting in supervisory practice, raises awareness of and investigates the complex factors (psychological, organisational, interpersonal, and ethical), that can arise in supervisory practice and supports the development of reflective and reflexive practice in your own professional practice as a supervisor and as a tool for supporting continuing professional development with supervision clients.

We will also explore the relationship between various schools of psychology which underpin both coaching and coach supervision practice and the critical interpersonal skills of the effective supervisor.

Supervisory practice will be a key feature of the initial three days of the programme with both one to one and group supervision being practiced in the safety of the classroom environment. To ensure that all delegates are developing as safe, effective, and ethical coach supervisors the programme is enhanced by the inclusion of three ‘supervising the supervisor’ workshops.

Each workshop runs for two hours with the first commencing (approximately) eight weeks after the three classroom days conclude and all delegates will be required to have run at least one supervision session prior to attendance at each of the workshops.
